Well-loved marches, quicksteps, popular melodies, and song from America’s history, performed by master musicians on the authentic instruments of the time.

The Americus Brass Band, one of the leading historic brass bands in the country, brings the great brass bands of the past to life with music from the Civil War bands and the bands of the American Cowboy West, as well as the music of America’s greatest band leader and composer, John Philip Sousa.

The narrated Concert, with costumed musicians and singers, features waltzes, polkas, quicksteps, light opera overtures, and marches. The curtain opens to with music from the 4th Georgia Regiment Band of the Confederate Army and the Port Royal Post Band. At intermission, the band changes into appropriate costume, picking up a complete set of “newer” instruments to recreate the popular cowboy bands of the late 1800’s, including the Dodge City Cowboy Band and Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show Cowboy Band. The grand finale brings the show to a fitting close with authentic recreations of John Philip Sousa’s greatest patriotic marches.

The Americus Brass Band in Concert takes the audience back in time – to hear the great brass bands of the past, with all of their brilliant sound and musical splendor. 14 – 16 performers (musicians and singers).

The Americus Brass Band has performed in concerts and festivals throughout the U.S. The band’s film/TV credits includes on-screen appearances and/or soundtrack recordings for Disney’s Hidalgo, the Oscar-winning movie Glory, Gettysburg, The North and South, The Wild West, and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
